Terms of Use

Final Repose is run by Yozeinc Software LLP (LLPIN AAS-1388), Paramount Towers, Flat No. 1102, 15th Road, Khar West, Mumbai 400052, India (“we”, “us”). These terms apply to anyone who uses the site. By signing in you agree to them, and to the way we handle information described in our Privacy notice. If you do not agree, please do not sign in. Reading an announcement does not need an account.

What the site is for

Final Repose lets a family publish an announcement of a death — with the services, the family’s words and a book of condolences — and share it through one link.

An announcement is a notice written by the family. It is not an official record of death, and we do not check what it says against any official record.

Your account

You sign in with Google or with a link we email to you. You must be at least 18. Keep access to your email account to yourself: anyone who can open it can sign in as you.

Publishing an announcement

When you create an announcement, you confirm that:

• you are a member of the family of the person who has died, or are acting with the family’s agreement;
• what you write is true to the best of your knowledge; and
• you have the right to use the photograph you upload.

Please take care with the living. The names of relatives, and the address of a private home, appear on the page for anyone who opens it. You can choose to keep the list of relatives off the page, and to describe a home without giving its address.

A published announcement can be read by anyone who has its link, and appears on the site’s front page and in its search. Its link stays the same for as long as the page exists.

Condolence messages

Messages can be read by anyone signed in to Final Repose — they are not private notes to the family. Please do not include phone numbers, addresses or anything confidential.

Messages are checked automatically before they appear, and one that looks unsuitable waits for the family to review it. The family can remove any message on their announcement, without giving a reason.

Do not post anything that is abusive, hateful, false, commercial, or that is someone else’s private information.

What you post remains yours

You keep ownership of everything you post — words and photographs. You give us permission to store it, display it on the site, and show it in the previews that messaging apps make when the link is shared, for as long as it is on the site. That permission ends when the content is removed, except for copies that already exist in messages people have sent each other, which we cannot reach.

Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time. Deleting your account deletes every announcement you created — published pages included, with their photographs and condolence books — and their links stop working. Anyone you shared a link with will no longer be able to open it. We will remind you of this, and ask you to confirm, before we delete anything.

An announcement cannot yet be handed to another member of the family. If someone else should look after a page, write to us before deleting your account.

What we may remove

We may remove or unpublish an announcement, a photograph or a message — and may close an account — if it is false, duplicates another announcement for the same person, was posted without the family’s agreement, breaks these terms, or is the subject of a valid complaint. We will try to tell the person who posted it, where we can.

Reporting a problem

Every announcement has a Report link. Reports, complaints and takedown requests go to admin@finalrepose.com, which is also the address of our Grievance Officer, Yoel Dsouza. We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days.

Availability and liability

The site is free to use at present. We may introduce charges for new features in the future, and will say so before they apply to you.

We work to keep the site running and your content safe, but we provide it as it is, and cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copy of anything that matters to you — the obituary text, the photograph.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses arising from your use of the site, or from what other people post on it. Nothing here limits any right you have that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before the change takes effect, and may ask you to agree again when you next sign in.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes belong to the courts of Mumbai.
